View over 100 oral histories from Carroll County Remembers, an archive of memories from ordinary people, based on the premise that everyone has a story to tell. It is those stories that help put a face to the land. They celebrate Carroll County and how it is remembered by past and present residents.
All interviews for CC Remembers are added to a permanent video archive made accessible here on the Carroll County History Project's website by the Community Media Center (CMC). A selection of interviews is also aired each month on Comcast Cable Channel 19 in Carroll County. To see a programming schedule click here.
To sustain this project the CMC is asking for community support in many ways:
- Share memories in an interview for the ongoing archive.
- Recommend a friend or relative who has great stories about Carroll County.
- Get involved with the CMC as a volunteer to help gather these stories. The CMC provides interview training as well as instruction in audio, video and lighting techniques for collecting the interviews. If you are interested in either telling your story or becoming an active volunteer for this project please contact the CMC at 410-386-4415 or sign up online. Interview training workshops are offered once a month on a Saturday from 10am ? 2pm. See calendar for details or click here to sign up.
- Volunteer with a Carroll County History Project Partner. Saving history cannot be accomplished without the help and dedication of a community of volunteers. Carroll County History Project Partners are Community Media Center, Carroll County Public Library, Carroll County NAACP, Human Relations Commission of Carroll County, Historical Society of Carroll County, and the Carroll County Genealogical Society.
