What’s in your attic? Antiques & Collectibles Appraisal Day is a community service that provides affordable valuations for the owners of prized antiques and collectibles. Experienced appraisers of antiques will inform you about the history of your items and tell you how much they might be worth.
The Antiques and Collectibles Appraisal Day is celebrating its 17th year. Join us on Saturday, September 9th from 10 AM to 4 PM at Grace Hall, Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll Street, Westminster, MD. Fees for the object identification services are: 1 item, $20; 2 items, $30; and 3 items, $35. (Maximum of three items per person.)
Each year Appraisal & Collectibles Day turns out to be a wonderful day of surprises where participants discover not only the value of the family heirlooms, but also learn something about the object’s history, maker, and importance. Each of our volunteer appraisers has devoted years of study to their particular area of expertise. The appraisers provide a verbal estimation of value, not a formal written appraisal. The event is intended as an educational experience and is offered primarily for entertainment and enjoyment.
The 2016 appraisers, who volunteered their time and talent, included:
James Y. Callear (folk art, furniture and primitives, coins & currency)
Thomas Gordon, Jr. (Civil War & ephemera)
Sandy Hohne (dolls)
Wesley Manger (fine arts, crafts, clocks & furniture)
Kim Paden (jewelry)
Courtney Wilson (militaria & Civil War items)
Fred Winer (fine & decorative arts)
The sponsors for the 2016 event were:
Gold: Lehigh Cement; M&T Bank; and New Windsor State Bank
Silver: Carroll Community College; Glenn S. Bair; Dr., James E. Lightner; and The Velnoskey Wealth Management Group
Bronze: Carroll Lutheran Village; Dulany, Leahy, Curtis & Beach; Jiffy Mart; and The Rotary Club of Westminster
