March on Washington

On August 28th, 1963 the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom became one of the largest political rallies for human rights in US history. To mark the 53rd anniversary, we invite you to watch our local documentary about this historic event.

The documentary was produced by the Carroll County History Project in partnership with the Carroll County NAACP and the Community Media Center and features local residents who were part of that historic civil rights event.

Residents shared their stories and memories of how this remarkable event helped usher in a new age. the program weaves interviews, along with archival footage, together to tell the story. Through their recollections, the March on Washington comes alive and viewers learn what motivated over 200,000 people to come together as one, and how that extraordinary day of hope and freedom, helped change lives forever.

The March on Washington documentary will also air on Cable Channel 19 on Sunday August 29th at 12:00 PM, 5:30 PM, and 9:30 PM.

It will be rebroadcast every day at 7:30PM until September 3, 2016.
